Photos carry far more than pixels. A picture from a phone typically records the exact model, the lens, the shutter speed, the date, and often the GPS coordinates where it was taken. Most people have no idea until they look.

Why uploads get rejected
Meeting the size is only part of it. These are the failures that actually come up:
- The image came from social media. Platforms strip EXIF on upload, so there is usually nothing left.
- The image is a screenshot. Screenshots carry almost no metadata by design.
- The file was exported from an editor that discards metadata.
How it works
The file is parsed byte by byte in your browser. For a PNG that means walking its chunk structure and reading every text chunk; for a JPEG, stepping through the segment markers to find EXIF, XMP and any JUMBF provenance box; for WebP, reading the RIFF containers.
Whatever is found is reported to you directly. There is no scoring model, no probability, and no pixel analysis — because a browser cannot do pixel-level AI detection honestly, and pretending otherwise is how these tools mislead people.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my photo contain GPS data?
Most phones record location by default. It is stored inside the file and travels with it, so sending an original photo can disclose exactly where you were. Check the setting in your camera app, and strip metadata before sharing anything sensitive.
How do I remove this data?
Use the metadata remover on this site, or any tool that re-encodes the image — re-encoding discards EXIF as a side effect. Social platforms already strip it on upload, but files sent by email or messaging apps often keep everything.
Nothing was found. Why?
The file has been stripped, which is normal for anything downloaded from a website or social platform. It does not mean the image is suspicious.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs inside your browser on your own device. Your file is never transmitted and never stored by us. You can confirm this by opening your browser’s Network tab while you use the tool — you will see no upload request.
