An EPUB has no fixed pages. It reflows to whatever device shows it, which is why no converter can preserve "the original layout" — there isn't one. What this does preserve is the words and the chapter order, laid out cleanly on A4.

Why uploads get rejected
Meeting the size is only part of it. These are the failures that actually come up:
- The book has DRM. Files bought from Kindle, Google Play Books or Adobe-protected stores are encrypted, and no converter can open them. That is the publisher's lock, not a limitation of this tool.
- The EPUB is made of scanned page images rather than text — there is nothing to extract.
- The file is actually .azw, .mobi or .kfx. Those are Kindle formats, not EPUB.
How it works
An EPUB is a ZIP archive with a defined structure. The tool unzips it in
memory, reads META-INF/container.xml to find the package file, then
reads that package file for two things: the manifest, which lists every document
in the book, and the spine, which gives the order they are meant to be read in.
Following the spine is what separates a correct conversion from a scrambled one. Chapter files are frequently named in an order that does not match the reading order, so tools that simply sort by filename produce a book with its chapters shuffled. The markup in each chapter is then stripped down to text, with block elements becoming paragraph breaks.
Everything happens inside your browser. The book is never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions
Can it convert a Kindle book?
No. Kindle books are DRM-protected and in Amazon's own format. No converter can open them — that is the point of the protection. This works on unencrypted EPUB files: public-domain books, self-published titles, DRM-free stores, and your own manuscripts.
Will it keep the images and formatting?
No. You get clean, readable text laid out on A4 with the chapter order intact. Fonts, images and styling are not carried over, because an EPUB's styling is a suggestion to the reading device rather than a fixed layout.
Is my book uploaded?
No. The EPUB is unzipped and converted inside your browser. Nothing is transmitted.
Why do chapters come out in the wrong order in other converters?
Because they sort by filename. An EPUB defines its reading order in a separate list called the spine, and chapter files are often named in a completely different order. This tool follows the spine, which is the only correct way to read the book.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
