How to use this tool
- Choose your file, or drag it onto the box above.
- Type the text to add and set the page and position. Positions are percentages, so the same settings work on A4, Letter or an odd scanned size.
- Click Process, then download. The page objects are copied rather than re-rendered, so text stays selectable and quality is untouched.
"Free" usually means free until you try to download. This has no account, no watermark, no page limit and no upload — because the editing happens in your browser rather than on our server. There is nothing for us to hold hostage.

Free Online PDF Editor — No Sign Up, Nothing Uploaded: what can go wrong
Most failures here are not about the document itself but about how it was produced. The ones that actually come up:
- You need to change text that is already there. No browser tool can do that, and the reason is structural — see the FAQ.
- The PDF is password-protected. Remove the password first.
- The text landed in the wrong place — adjust the percentage positions and try again.
How it works
Your PDF is read into memory in the browser and edited with pdf-lib, which modifies the document's object structure directly. Adding text creates a new text object on the page you name, at the position you give as a percentage of page width and height — percentages rather than points, so the same settings work whether the page is A4, Letter or an odd scanned size.
Because the existing page objects are copied rather than re-rendered, the rest of the document is untouched: existing text stays selectable, images keep their original quality, and the file size barely moves.
There is no upload, no account and no watermark, and those three facts are connected. Editors that process files on a server carry a real running cost, which the free tier exists to recover — hence watermarks, page caps and sign-up walls. Running the work on your own device costs us nothing per file, so there is nothing to gate.
A measured run of this tool
Not an estimate. This page’s own code, run against a documented reference file.
Input: 2.92 MB. Output: 2.92 MB.
The file size barely moved — up 0.0%. That is the point: this operation edits the PDF’s structure and copies the existing page objects rather than re-rendering them, so text stays selectable and images keep their original quality. A tool that re-encodes would show a much larger change here, and you would be paying for it in quality.
Who needs Free Online PDF Editor — No Sign Up, Nothing Uploaded

Free Online PDF Editor — No Sign Up, Nothing Uploaded — frequently asked questions
Is it really free with no sign up?
Yes. There is no account, no trial, no watermark and no download limit. That is possible because your file is processed in your browser — we never receive it, so there is no server cost to recover and nothing to gate.
Can I edit the text already in my PDF?
No, and be sceptical of any browser tool that claims otherwise. A PDF stores text as individually positioned glyphs, not editable paragraphs — changing a word means reflowing everything around it, which needs a full layout engine of the kind Acrobat has. This adds new text on top, which covers most real needs like filling forms and adding dates.
Is my document uploaded?
No. Open your browser's Network tab while you use it — you will see no upload. That matters for contracts, bank statements and anything else you would rather not hand to a stranger's server.
Is there a page or file limit?
No page limit. Files up to 100 MB, bounded in practice by your browser's memory.
Does this reduce the quality of my PDF?
No. The page objects are copied across rather than re-rendered, so text stays text, images keep their original encoding, and the result is visually identical to what went in.
What happens to bookmarks, links and form fields?
Page content is preserved exactly. Document-level features such as bookmarks, internal links and form fields may not survive a structural edit, so check the output if your file relies on them.
What "free" usually means, and what it means here
"Free online PDF editor" covers at least four different arrangements, and the differences only become visible once you have committed your file:
- Free to edit, paid to download. You do the work, then meet a paywall at export.
- Free with a watermark. The download works, but the output is stamped.
- Free trial. Usually three files or seven days, often needing card details up front.
- Free with an account. No money, but your email and your document both change hands.
None of those applies here. There is no account, no card, no trial counter, no watermark and no cap on how many files you edit. The site is funded by advertising on the page, which is why it can afford to be free in the plain sense of the word.
The honest trade-off is capability. A browser-based editor cannot match a desktop application for reflowing paragraphs, editing embedded fonts or redacting content properly. It adds text, images and pages to an existing PDF. If you need to rewrite the body of a typeset document, you want the source file, not any PDF editor.

Your PDF never leaves this device. Contracts, statements and applications are processed entirely in the browser — open the Network tab while you use the page and you will see no upload (how that works).
