PNG is lossless, so text and line art stay crisp with no compression artefacts — at the cost of considerably larger files than JPG. For pages that are mostly photographs, JPG is the better choice.

Why uploads get rejected
Meeting the size is only part of it. These are the failures that actually come up:
- The PDF is password-protected.
- The files are very large — that is PNG working as intended. Use PDF to JPG if size matters more than sharpness.
- The document has more than 60 pages.
How it works
Each page is rendered with pdf.js at the resolution you choose, then exported as an image. Rendering happens on your own device using your browser's canvas — the file is never uploaded.
Resolution is the main trade-off: 150 DPI suits screens and email, 300 DPI matches print quality and produces files around four times larger.
Who uses this

Why is each page a separate file?
A PDF page maps to one image. Your browser may ask permission to download several files at once — that is expected.
Is there a page limit?
Sixty pages. Beyond that a browser tab typically runs out of memory, and failing clearly is better than crashing halfway through.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs inside your browser on your own device. Your file is never transmitted and never stored by us. You can confirm this by opening your browser’s Network tab while you use the tool — you will see no upload request.
Is there a limit on how many files I can process?
