Why these tools are different

They target a specification, not a vague "smaller"

Most compressors give you a quality slider and leave you guessing. These start from the requirement — 20 KB, 200 × 230 pixels, under 1 MB — and search for the highest quality that still fits. You get a file that passes the form, with as much detail as the limit allows.

Nothing is uploaded

Processing runs on your own device. There is no server handling your files, which means no upload wait, no storage, no privacy question, and no usage cap. You can confirm it: open your browser's Network tab and watch that nothing is sent.

Specifications are dated and sourced

Exam boards and governments revise upload rules regularly, and most tool sites copy stale numbers from each other. Every specification page here shows where the figure came from and when we last checked it. Where we could not verify something, the page says so rather than presenting a guess as fact.

Honest about limits

PDF compression to a hard size target requires rasterising the document, which stops the text being selectable. We say that above the tool rather than hiding it, because for a résumé being read by an applicant tracking system it genuinely matters.
